Invisalign®Invisalign works to get the attractive straight teeth you've always wanted — without having unsightly wire braces. Invisalign works by using a series of removable and comfortable clear aligners. Your customized Invisalign aligners are made using 3-D computer imaging technology. Besides being invisible, other benefits of the system include having no metal to cause mouth abrasions, and less time in your dentist office getting adjustments. Since they are removable, you can also eat and drink what you want while in treatment! Even brushing and flossing are not a problem. It works by having you wear each set of customized aligners for 2 weeks, with each new set moving your teeth slightly into their new positions. You'll visit your doctor once every 6 weeks to check on your progress and the treatment time averages around one year. We would be happy to refer you to a participating dentist to receive more information regarding this orthodontic option. Zoom!®Zoom! is a professional one-hour teeth whitening treatment that gets your teeth an average of eight shades whiter. Store-bought home kits generally take 1-2 weeks and whiten an average of four shades. The difference is the Zoom! specialized whitening gel and light combination, which work together to break up the stains on your teeth. We found this quick whitening treatment is a great way to prepare for: reunions; weddings; corporate events; job interviews; first dates; everyday interactions; or any other smile occasion. Please ask us for a participating dentist in your area. ExtractionsThere are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth. Reasons for removal may include: infection; decay; orthodontic correction, or wisdom tooth problems. If you suspect a decaying or infected tooth, it can cause further complications, so it is important to contact us immediately. At the consultation, the doctor may recommend removal and replacement with a bridge or implant. Implants and other replacements can be a vital part of the treatment plan, to avoid complications with shifting teeth and aesthetic appearance. IV SedationIV sedation is very safe, but please alert the doctor if there is a chance of pregnancy, any allergies to medications, or any impaired organ function. We will observe you throughout the procedure by monitoring your pulse and oxygen levels. We will also check your blood pressure and EKG (heart monitoring) before, during, and after your procedure. Medications are administered through the IV, so you will need a responsible adult to drive you home from the procedure. Please see our Pre-Operative Information page, as well as our Post-Operative Information page for more information. Bone GraftingOver a period of time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is reabsorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. In these situations, most patients are not candidates for placement of dental implants. We now have the ability to grow bone where needed. This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and aesthetic appearance. Facial TraumaOral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are trained, skilled and uniquely qualified to manage and treat facial trauma. In addition, Dr. Trevisani has completed a fellowship in cosmetic facial surgery. Dr. Trevisani is able to treat you in a local hospital for facial injuries including:
Oral PathologyIt is very important to have the oral cavity examined for soft tissue changes. The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin (mucosa) that is smooth and coral pink in color. Any alteration in this appearance could be a warning sign for a pathological process. The most serious of these is oral cancer. The following can be signs at the beginning of a pathologic process or cancerous growth: Reddish patches (erythroplakia) or whitish patches (leukoplakia) in the mouth; a sore that fails to heal and bleeds easily; a lump or thickening on the skin lining the inside of the mouth; chronic sore throat or hoarseness; difficulty in chewing or swallowing. These changes can be detected on the lips, cheeks, palate, gum tissue around the teeth, tongue, face, and/or neck. Pain does not always occur with pathology and, curiously, is not often associated with oral cancer. However, any patient with facial and/or oral pain without an obvious cause or reason may also be at risk for oral cancer. We recommend performing an oral cancer self-examination monthly and remember that your mouth is one of your body's most important warning systems. |
